COMPETITION FOR THE COUNTY THEATER ADDITION
The addition to the County Theater will not duplicate the look of the existing building. The façade will be neutral and modern in its aesthetic look but will not have the character that forces itself into you. The introduction of glazing as a major component of the façade will provide transparency and will reflect the historical building across the street as you drive or walk across the street.
A separate entrance is provided on the far end to access the community events that will also double as an egress exit. The entrance side wall could be used to display community event posters and billboards for the up-coming community events or films. The pre-function space could be double height with the office component behind on the second floor, banners could hang off the ceiling displaying events or films.
This new “look” for the addition picks-up some components of the original building but respects the existing aesthetics of the County Theater architectural design. The original should not be duplicated and should remain as the focal point of attraction. This new addition could serve as a community gathering and could become multi-dimensional for the town as a community gathering destination, adding to the character of the town but respecting the historical context by not attempting to duplicate or compete with it.
