BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING
For years architects and engineers have spent countless hours comparing various 2-D drawings in an effort to coordinate all of the building systems and avoid ‘hits’ during construction. All of this has changed in recent years with the advent of Building Information Modeling or BIM. By programming building elements as assemblies with a set of attributes instead of as lines on a drawing, BIM allows designers to see, for the first time in three dimensions, exactly how each system will interface with all the others. Building modeling not only gives the designer and client the ability to see their building in 3-D before it is built, but the input of component information now gives the designer the ability to coordinate the selection of electrical and HVAC systems with the overall building envelope performance.
Design Resources Group Architects utilizes the latest building modeling features in developing our construction documents, so that our clients can enjoy all the benefits of this cutting edge technology. Ask us what DRG and BIM can do for your next project.
