DRG Architects was retained by the New Jersey Institute of Disabilities (NJID) to design a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool for the Lakeview School in Denville, NJ. The pool provides therapy and rehabilitation to students with disabilities and is one part of the new $1.3 million Aquatic Center. First of it’s kind in a school setting, the HydroWorx Series 2000 therapeutic pool features zero-depth access, meaning no steps, ladders or lifts are necessary for access. Instead, the pool floor — which doubles as a variable-speed treadmill — is height-adjustable so students and clinical staff can stand or sit and be lowered into the water. The hydrotherapy pool also has five underwater cameras and a digital monitoring system, enhancing its diagnostic capabilities for therapists and physicians.
