DRG Architects has recently been tasked by the Ocean County College to design an addition to the lobby of the Grunin Arts Center. The proposed addition will unify and become a welcoming gateway to the northern Campus entrance. A highly visible and transparent curtain wall wraps the addition and balances the newer addition which is more solid in nature. The massing of the addition compliments the original Grunin Center’s upper horizontal building block and blends with the Architectural elements of the original building. The addition is level with the sidewalk and drop-off and will provide a seamless transition to the building entrance avoiding ramps or steps. The design approach of the interior space is neutral in nature and will blend in with any gathering or activity, but also serving its primary function as a pre-function space for the Grunin Theater. Designs include a grand stairs and an elevator for accessibility, toilets that meet code requirements for assembly spaces as well as storage.
