The Ocean County Student Enrollment Center (SEB) will be the focal point of the campus as students and their families enter the main promenade of the campus. The 21st-century building is faced with a large modern glass window wall which at night will act as a beacon to those present on the main campus mall.
The design was expedited during the demolition of an existing building site dedicated to the new building. The design team carefully designed the entire building, holding off on the design of the foundations until the geotechnical investigation could be completed (at the site of the existing building). It is important to note the demolition contractor was responsible for filling and compacting the existing site to spec. However, DRG made sure through our own investigations that the anticipated soil bearing capacity was met.
In addition, DRG was contracted to conduct an upgraded site electrical package for OCC college campus. The administration assigned this task as the new building required a new service. The design team presented various approaches to the site upgrade based on input from the OCC Facilities Administration. Once a consensus on the design was achieved, the DRG team modified the design of the electrical service of the SEB to coordinate with the new campus infrastructure.
